A Great State of Mind

I was born in Missouri and have lived here my entire life. Living in Missouri is not without its challenges, what with super hot humid summers, that make you sweat the minute you step outside and prompt you to say things like "it ain't the heat it's the humidity". Then we have cold, damp harsh winters with winds that swoop down and threaten to carry you away. Spring and Autumn come and go so quickly that most of us living here believe we have two season, Cold and Hot. Missouri is still one of the most diverse States in America. We have rolling hills, sprawling valleys, the gorgeous Ozark mountains, tall grass prairies, hickory and oak forests that stretch for acres, we are bordered by two mighty rivers, The Missouri River (The "Old Muddy" as it is affectionately called in these parts) to the west; and the Mighty Mississippi to the east. We have a diversity of wildlife here that is mind boggling. Deer, turkey, bobcat, coyotes, fox, mountain lions, black bears, armadillos, opossums, even elk! Birds galore, and enough insects to keep a budding entomologist busy their whole life. Why... what's not to love about Missouri? I've created this blog to showcase some of Missouri's wild wonders.
